Adopted Dogs - Winter 2017/2018

Bella - A five-year old Italian Greyhound in NY

Bella, an Italian Greyhound being fostered by Italian Greyhound Place

Welcome to Italian Greyhound Place, Bella!

Bella is being fostered with the intent to adopt!!!

In Fall 2016, Bella's canine companion, Beau, was surrendered into the care of Italian Greyhound Place.* An Italian Greyhound Place volunteer, Pam, graciously got Beau from his owner and met Beau's foster/adopter. A bit over a year later and it was Bella's turn. Another huge thanks to Pam for assisting in the transport of Bella to the same foster/adopter Beau went to. Yes, Bella has been reunited with Beau, making the difficult decision and surrender a bit easier for Bella's previous owner. In addition to Beau, Bella has joined Ava, also adopted through Italian Greyhound Place. Based on the initial response of the three dogs to each other, it seems that Bella will be adopted, making her adopter "a father of three" as he put it! (1/28/17)

*Prior to Beau’s surrender, Italian Greyhound Place offered assistance with both dogs so that the owner could possibly keep them, but the owner determined (not an easy determination) that it was

best to locate a new home for one dog, feeling that having one, instead of two, dogs would be more manageable for him.

Italian Greyhound Place is pleased to have fostered and to have had Bella adopted by her fantastic foster who has, in total, adopted four Italian Greyhounds through Italian Greyhound Place: Bella; Beau, Bella's canine companion who was adopted over a year ago; Ava; and another very special Beau who passed away after having a wonderful life with his adopter. A huge thanks to Bella's adopter and to Pam for transporting Bella and Beau! Bella was officially adopted on 2/7/18 with the following statement from her adopter, "Bella is part of our family and isn't going anywhere."

Leroy - An approximately eleven-year old Italian Greyhound in NJ

Welcome to Italian Greyhound Place, Leroy!

Leroy was welcomed into the care of Italian Greyhound Place by his foster, who was fostering with the intent to adopt him. This dog's sweetness kept the fostering to a minimum - he has found his new home!

Thanks very much to his foster/adopter for assisting Italian Greyhound Place and providing Leroy, who now has two fantastic humans and three Italian Greyhound companions, with his forever home! (Leroy was adopted on 2/8/18)

His adopter indicated that "his unofficial name is now Lucky Leroy." Aptly named as he is certainly lucky to have found his forever home with his adopters.

Zoey - A five-month old Italian Greyhound puppy in NY

Welcome to Italian Greyhound Place, Zoey!

Note: Zoey has extended her adventures in rescue while gaining some weight for her spay surgery and receiving treatment for Giardia.

Zoey, who is in the care of Italian Greyhound Place, is five months old (born on 8/18/17) and is a beautiful, sweet Italian Greyhound puppy; very affectionate and cuddly, and also, as would be expected, full of puppy playfulness.

Previously having lived with children, dogs, and cats, she is good with all three and loves to engage other dogs in play (her previous owners have requested that another small dog be in her adoptive home). Zoey is, true to the breed, quite athletic: fast, agile, and a capable jumper.

Zoey is crate trained (she is fine if people are home and she is crated or if crated when left alone). She will also go into an open crate to use a cushion. She travels nicely by car and is getting accustomed to walking with a leash. Zoey is being fed a grain-free dog food (she had gastrointestinal symptoms on food containing grain).

Zoey is not yet housetrained, so will need an adopter willing to housetrain her.

If you are interested in welcoming a very loving Italian Greyhound puppy to your home, please contact Italian Greyhound Place. (Listed 1/31/18)

Italian Greyhound Place is pleased to have fostered Zoey and to have had her adopted by a fantastic, previous Italian Greyhound adopter! Zoey has lots of human companionship (her adopter does not work outside the home), two Italian Greyhound companions, a fenced yard, and walks at the park to enjoy. Zoey was adopted on 3/5/18!
