Adopted Dogs - Spring 2011

Cam - A five-year old Shih Tzu in NY

A Shih Tzu in NY for adoption

Cam is a great little guy who weighs fifteen pounds. He is housetrained to"go" outside or in a litterbox, walks nicely on leash, doesn't tend to bark at all, and travels nicely in the car. Cam can be full of energy, but knows when to calm down and relax. He is very friendly and good with other dogs, cats, and children. He will be a great companion for his new person or people. If you would like to welcome Cam to your home, please contact Italian Greyhound Place. (Listed here 6/11/11)

Italian Greyhound Place is pleased to have arranged and facilitated the adoption of Cam to a caring woman in NY who is looking forward to spending time with her new canine companion. Cam was adopted on 6/14/11!

Poseidon - A seven-month old Italian Greyhound in New York

Poseidon was a loved member of a military family and, when they received extremely short notice of a move, were unable to take Poseidon with them. Italian Greyhound Place contacted a previous adopter who was considering adding another Italian Greyhound to the family, and Poseidon was soon in his new home.

Italian Greyhound Place is pleased to have arranged and facilitated the adoption of Poseidon to a wonderful couple in NY, where Poseidon and Orry (Gizmo) now have each other to run and play with. Poseidon was adopted on 6/12/11.

Seven-month old Italian Greyhound in NY for adoption

Tino - A four-year old Italian Greyhound in New York

Tino is a sweet boy who loves to cuddle with his person, and to relax in spots warmed by the sun. He has times of very high energy, but that is balanced by times of low activity and calmness. Tino is good with other dogs and children, but he has not been around cats. He currently prefers to "potty" outside in a fenced area, as opposed to being on leash. However, he does have accidents and could use some work with his housetraining. Tino walks nicely on leash and loves to travel by car. He is not crate trained. His owner has been at school, and Tino is in need of a new home with lots of love and attention. If you are interested in providing Tino with the home he needs, please contact Italian Greyhound Place.(Listed here 5/17/11)

Tino, an Italian Greyhound in NY, is available for adoption

Dash - A one-year old Italian Greyhound in New York

One-year old Italian Greyhound in NY needs adopter

Dash, who turned one-year old this past February and weighs eighteen pounds, is a terrific Italian Greyhound. He is loving and friendly, is crate trained, well-behaved on leash, good with other dogs and older children, and even housetrained. Dash has a medium to high activity level, but also enjoys cuddling. Unfortunately, Dash was adopted two weeks ago, but has not coped well with the transition to his new home and his new family has decided that he needs to be rehomed. It is likely that Dash would do best with one or more canine companions. If you would like to enliven you life with a super loving Italian Greyhound, and have the patience to work with him during his transition, please contact Italian Greyhound Place.(Listed here 5/20/11)

Italian Greyhound Place is pleased to have arranged and facilitated the adoption of Dash to a wonderful, and very accepting family in NY. Charlie - An Italian Greyhound puppy in NY

Welcome to Italian Greyhound Place, Charlie!

Charlie was born on February 6, 2011, and arrived into the care of Italian Greyhound Place the week of May 1st. Charlie has been nicely socialized and is doing wonderfully with his housetraining - he is learning to go on doggy pee pads and also outside. This guy is very sweet, loves to cuddle, enjoys playing with toys - he truly is precious. Charlie enjoys other dogs, and would do fine in a home with a small canine companion. If you are interested in providing a loving home for Charlie, please contact Italian Greyhound Place. (Listed here 5/6/11)

Camille and Hector - Six and seven year old Italian Greyhounds in Virginia

Bonded Italian Greyhounds in VA need home

Camille, a twelve pound female, and Hector, a twenty pound male, are a wonderful pair of Italian Greyhounds in need of a new home together. Since the arrival of a baby, and another due this summer, their owners have not had sufficient time and attention to devote to them. In addition, Hector seems less content since the arrival of their child, although not at all aggressive. Both Camille and Hector are housetrained, as well as crate trained. These two are generally couch potatoes and spend most of the day snuggled together under covers. However, they both love to go for walks and are keen to go as often as you will take them! Hector will pull some on leash, whereas Camille, who is a bit more timid than Hector, will sometimes walk behind you. They are good with other small dogs, but tend to be afraid of large ones. There was a visiting cat at their home once, and they tended to leave the cat alone. Camille and Hector are both very sweet, social, and love people. Camille, who likes to play tug-of-war and fetch, is more easy-going, while Hector is more anxious and will become temporarily stressed with changes (such as preparation for a trip). If you would enjoy the company of two, sweet, well-behaved Italian Greyhounds, please contact Italian Greyhound Place. (Listed here 4/23/11)

Italian Greyhound place is pleased to have arranged and facilitated the adoption of Camille and Hector to a great couple in VA who found exactly what they were looking for in Camille and Hector, and are thrilled to have them as part of their family. Camille and Hector were adopted on 5/18/11!

Welcome to Italian Greyhound Place, Rose!

Rose was born on February 6, 2011, and arrived into the care of Italian Greyhound Place the week of May 1st. The second of three litter mates, Rose is the most independent of the three, venturing further away, but still charging back for cuddles. She is a very inquisitive, sweet little girl and, like her litter mates, is well-socialized.

Italian Greyhound Place is pleased to have rescued, fostered, and rehomed Rose to a retired man in NY who has welcomed her into his home. Rose has a puppy-proofed home, a fenced area to run and play in, and a wonderful man to cherish her. Rose was adopted on 5/12/11!

Luigi - A ten-year old Italian Greyhound in Missouri

Ten-year old Italian Greyhound in MO needs home

This sweet, older Italian Greyhound needs a forever person to share his love with. Luigi is a low-key guy who truly enjoys going for walks and is good on leash. He is good with children and is accustomed to sharing his home with another dog and cat; that said, he has been known to chase cats on occasion! Although he has marked in the past, Luigi is housetrained, only tends to bark in response to another dog barking, and travels well by car. Luigi is very friendly and enjoys snuggling with his people. Please contact Italian Greyhound Place if you would like to welcome Luigi into your home. (Listed here 3/20/11) Update 5/2/11: Although Luigi had a potential adopter, the activity level of Luigi and the potential adopter's Italian Greyhound did not match at all. Luigi's owner has decided that she is going to take Luigi to the shelter this week. This guy needs help!

Italian Greyhound Placeis very pleased to report that Luigi is in a wonderful foster home in Illinois!!! This would not have happened without the help of some wonderful people. Italian Greyhound place contacted Holly at SilverHounds, and she found two wonderful women to help Luigi. Tracy drove to Luigi's location and transportedhim to Illinois, where Tracie is fostering him. Luigi's transport took place on 5/7/11!

Mindy, an Italian Greyhound mix being fostered in NY by Italian Greyhound Place

Welcome to Italian Greyhound Place, Mindy!

This precious girl arrived into the care of Italian Greyhound Place after being pulled from a kill-shelter by a wonderful woman involved in rescue. Mindy is twelve pounds and is doing exceptionally well with her housetraining; no accidents if taken out regularly. She gets along nicely with other dogs, enjoys chewing on chew-bones, and playing with squeaky toys! Mindy is learning to walk nicely on-leash, and loves going for walks. Kobe - A seven-month old Italian Greyhound puppy in Connecticut

Kobe was purchased from a pet store by his current owners two-and-one-half months ago. Unfortunately, they have realized that they do not have the time or lifestyle to properly raise and care for him, and acknowledge that he needs a home with more human companionship, consistency in training, and exercise. Without these things, Kobe is not completely housetrained and chews inappropriate items. Kbe is very responsive, loveable, mischievous, smart, and energetic. He is good with other dogs and children, and walks nicely on leash. This handsome pup was born on August 25, 2010 and currently weighs eighteen pounds. If you would like to make Kobe your canine companion and help him to reach his potential, please contact Italian Greyhound Place. (Listed here 4/13/11)

Italian Greyhound Place is pleased to have arranged and facilitated the adoption of Kobe to a wonderful woman in NJ who has previously owned an Italian Greyhound, and is more than willing to work with Kobe, while giving him lots of love and attention. Kobe now has a new canine friend (they took to each other right away), a fenced yard to romp in, and gets to go to work with his new canine and human companion. Kobe was adopted on 4/16/11!

Seven-month old Italian Greyhound puppy in CT

Copper - Not an Italian Greyhound in New York!

Copper is available for adoption in NY

At fifty to sixty pounds, Copper is definitely not an Italian Greyhound! His owner is an e-3 private at West Point who is being sent to Germany and needs to find a home for Copper by June 1st. Copper is three years old, housetrained, and is good with children - there are two young children in his family. He is very loving and enjoys cuddling. Although Copper loves long walks and is good on leash, he is not too active - content to relax for most of the day. If you would like to welcome Copper into your life and home, please contact Italian Greyhound Place. (Listed here 3/28/11)

Italian Greyhound Place is pleased to have arranged and facilitated the adoption of Copper to a wonderful, dog knowledgeable man in NY. Copper has a human companion who works from home, two canine friends, and a fenced yard to play in. Copper was adopted on 4/9/11!

Toby - A three-year old Italian Greyhound in New Hampshire

Italian Greyhound for adoption in NH

Toby is a sweet Italian Greyhound who loves being with his people. In fact, he is looking for a home where he will not have to be left alone each day. He is also full of energy and quite playful, so will need an adopter willing to provide him with the exercise that he needs. Toby is housetrained, but if left alone uncrated for more than four hours, will have accidents; if in his crate, he will not. Toby does pull on-leash, so will need to learn to be a good leash walker. He is good with children, dogs, and cats. If you are looking for an active, cuddly Italian Greyhound to spend lots of time with, please contact Italian Greyhound Place. (Listed here 3/10/11)

Italian Greyhound Place is pleased to have arranged and facilitated the adoption of Toby to a wonderful home in NH where he will receive lots of love and attention. Toby was adopted on 4/2/11!

Hercules - A six-year old Italian Greyhound in SC

Six-year old Italian Greyhound in SC needs home

Italian Greyhound Place is pleased to have arranged and facilitated the adoption of Hercules, an adoption that took place with the help of his caring owner, a fantasatic woman who saw Hercules' listing and passed it on to a couple looking for an Italian Greyhound, a wonderful shelter director who wanted the best for Hercules, and his special adopters who opened their hearts and home to Hercules. Why are Hercules' adopters special? When Hercules was listed he was in good health and staying with his owner's friends. Hercules became ill and his owner took him to a veterinarian facility. Hercules' liver enzymes were elevated. He was put on a special diet and given medication. An ultra-sound and x-rays were done a few days later, showing no tumors or cancer. Hercules would need to remain on medication for two weeks and, if his liver enzymes were still elevated, he would need a biopsy. Hercules' owner's friend were not available to take him back, so, believing it was the best chance for Hercules, his owner released him to a humane society. I heard from Hercules' owner the same day. Hercules needed to get out of the shelter! That's when everything came together (maybe luck, maybe magic, maybe Hercules' being looked out for). I heard from a woman who had passed Hercules' listing information to a couple looking for an Italian Greyhound. I let the couple know the current situation with Hercules, that he was in the shelter and would need continued treatment, including a possible biopsy, for his liver condition. This did not deter them. I contacted Hercules' owner and the shelter director, and Hercules went home with his adoptive family to Georgia, where he is already loved and cherished. This photo is of Hercules in his new home. Hercules was adopted on 3/29/11!

Izzy - A one-year old Italian Greyhound in California

This elegant, little girl will be one-year old on March 22nd, weighs twelve pounds, and is housetrained and accident free in her current home as long as she is taken out regularly. Izzy is not accustomed to leash walking (her current owners take her out into their fenced yard), so she will need assistance learning not to pull. Energy is something that Izzy has in abundance, so she will do best in a home where she will have the opportunity for plenty of exercise. She likes to play fetch and would be happy joining you for walks or jogs. If you would like a sweet bundle of energy to share your life with, please contact Italian Greyhound Place. (Listed here 3/7/11)
