Adopted Dogs Summer 2015

Paul and Jake - Twelve-year old Italian Greyhounds in New Jersey

Welcome to Italian Greyhound Place, Paul and Jake!

Paul and Jake - Twelve-year old Italian Greyhounds in NJPaul and Jake are twelve-year old Italian Greyhounds who are in the care of Italian Greyhound Place. Their previous owner is moving to an apartment in which only two dogs are allowed; unfortunately, there were four resident dogs in their home.

Both dogs are very goofy, sweet, and love people. They are also good with other dogs and cats, although Paul is hesitant around cats until he knows them. They enjoy playing, walk nicely on leash, are good when traveling by car, and only tend to bark when someone initially enters the house.

Paul and Jake are accustomed to pottying outside in an enclosed area and using doggy pee pads inside. Their prior owner utilized belly bands as Paul has occasional accidents. Neither is crate trained.

If you might be interested in Paul and Jake, please contact Italian Greyhound Place.

Italian Greyhound Place is pleased to have rescued, fostered, and rehomed Paul and Jake to a fantastic, breed-experienced couple in NJ, where they will get lots of love and attention, especially since one of their new people is retired! Paul and Jake were adopted on 9/7/15!

Hector - A one-year old Italian Greyhound in Virginia

Hector - A one-year old Italian Greyhound in Virginia

Hector’s current owner, who is single and in the military, is unable to provide Hector with the attention he needs and, consequently, a new home, where that attention can be provided, is desired.

Hector, who is blue (grey) in color, turned one-year old last month (July 2015) and weighs fifteen pounds. He is friendly, very active, and loves being close to his person; he is a supreme cuddle bug.

Regarding housetraining, Hector is versatile, using doggy pee pads inside and also pottying outside - there are some potty accidents when left alone for extended time-frames. Since he is not fond of crates, the kitchen is gated for when Hector is home alone.

When greeted appropriately by people and other dogs, Hector is fine; if someone rushes to him with a, “Oh, cool dog!” approach, he is skittish. Same with other dogs; he is more comfortable when a dog casually walks over to him and sniffs, but does not like an unknown dog running toward him – he will attempt to run away or bark. Hector does not reside with other dogs, but is accustomed to visiting a dog park and playing with the dogs there.

If you are interested in sharing your home with a sweet, cuddly, “tons of energy” Italian Greyhound and tend to be home more than not, please contact Italian Greyhound Place.  (Listed 8/10/15)

Italian Greyhound Place is pleased to have arranged and facilitated the adoption of Hector by a wonderful couple in NY who traveled to Virginia, with their Italian Greyhound, to meet and adopt him! Hector has two humans with flexible work schedules, one with the ability to work from home; a canine companion, and the opportunity for lots of walks and dog park visits. Hector was adopted on 8/23/15!

Avalon - A two-year old Italian Greyhound in New York

Welcome to Italian Greyhound Place, Avalon!

Ava - A two-year old Italian Greyhound in NY

Avalon has been welcomed into the care of Italian Greyhound Place by her foster father, Ferol! The best news though is that this sweet, little girl has probably found her way into her forever home as, assuming that Avalon and Ferol's dog continue to acclimate positively, he plans to adopt her :-)

Also, good news for Ava is that she will receive diagnostic testing/imaging/biopsy (if necessary) for high liver enzyme levels, with a subsequent treatment and/or management plan being implemented.

Avalon has been adopted by her foster father, Ferol (and resident dog, Coco)!!! Such fantastic news for sweet Avalon.

This little girl is scheduled at Cornell University Hospital for Animals, Companion Animal Hospital for diagnosis and treatment/management of her liver condition and, hopefully, there will be good news for Avalon. Regardless, Ava has found her forever home :-)
